I see many very concrete and positive moves by the new DNN Corp over the last few months to push the DNN platform and ecosystem to a better place. I will list a few that may have been mentioned already:

1 - "Smaller Corp - Larger Community" - That has been one of the points brought up by Andy Tryba and it is getting fully realized with now the release process of DNN been orchestrated by the community. I joke the other day that the inmates are running the asylum :)

2 - "New Partner Program" - This has been an initiative that has been fundamentally influenced and driven by the Partners Advisory Group, which is a group that anyone who would be interested could have voiced their points and be heard

3 - "Advisory Groups" - There are currently 4 advisory groups where anyone can join and can have their voice heard of. Pick one to join according to what makes more sense to you and make your voice be heard.

4 - Technology Advisory Group: This is the group built by the community and DNN Corp. to drive the future of DNN from a technical stand point. They meet ever day... :) Not that frequently but every week!

5 - A New MVP program. The MVP program had been stagnated for the past 3 years and now, again, with the input of the community, a new MVP program has been put in place:

6 - This Question! Do you know one of the reasons why you are getting so many answers to your question here? Because the Awareness group is actively monitoring the forums to make sure questions get promptly replied to and addressed and we mobilize each other.

And many more...

Yes I am guilty of being an optimist but I feel now that our voices can be better heard and if I really want to see something in particular happening I know that I can mobilize the right people to have a good chance to see it happening.

Are there places that need even further improvement? Of course there are, and there will always be but Rome wasn't built in a day (to keep withing the quoting theme) and a full shift in DNN won't happen in a year, but over time with many initiatives moving forward together like these.

I am a DNN veteran as well and I am not guilty of being an optimist, but with the new opportunities, there is the chance for the community, to regain control of DNN and push it to new heights. And of course, we also need the voice of users to drive us to the right direction as well as the power of our users (development and design skills, documentation, feedback, spreading the word) to achieve our goals. It is the energy of the community, which determines the success of an open source project.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold
