To quote the top of these forums:  "The DotNetNuke Community Forums were recently migrated from their original home on the www.asp.net website to their new home on dotnetnuke.com. The migration enabled us to provide more benefits and better service to our valuable community. Please note that there is still a significant knowledge base of 36,000+ threads which remain on www.asp.net."

Now check out the current links on ASP.Net:  "<a class="ForumGroupNameUnRead" href="http://www.dotnetnuke.com/tabid/795/Default.aspx">DotNetNuke</a> <br />

What the heck happened?  How are we supposed to search this "significant knowledge base of 36,000+ threads which remain on www.asp.net???"

You can still search and get to all the posts.  Only the main links bring people here.

I just noticed this as well. Seems a bit bullish to me. I was going to referr a user in the Repository forum who is screaming for help to post to ASP.net because no one has replied to him. Oh well.

No John, Breadcrumbs are redirecting as well...

So we're left Googling for answers....thanks!

I understand transitions to new platforms, but really, this is "one step forward, two steps backward."  First you won't (quite understandably) migrate the content.  Now you cut off all direct access to YEARS of content made available by a third party!?!?  That's a little heavy-handed to say the least.  It's almost like when Shaun wnet asking others to kill or rename their sites because he got some new trademark & marketting ideas...  Sure, DNN as a Core Team (and Perpetual Motion as the owner) get more of what the y want--but the community loses free & easy access to the CONTRIBUTIONS of yet another THIRD PARTY!

It could be paraphrased as "we are the Borg, join us or die..."  Others have commented on fears about competition with the Core Team on several other fronts, I guess we can just add Forums to the list.

To give more constructive criticism, perhaps the Core forums could provide a Unified Search facility?  Could the mothership proxy & aggregate results from DotNetNuke.com itself, from the Gemini issues, from ASP.Net, and from Google (or other) web searches at large?  Then marshalling the community to the mothership would be a benefit to not only the Core Team but to the community as a whole!
