Hi all,

  • Are there any plans to develop a XForms module in the near future ?

PeterNL,

the xml module is considered as output rendering only, no plans on adding any input features.

Nevertheless I am curious, what should be the benefits of an XForm module?
Please share your ideas.

Currently all releases of DotNetNuke are not able to produce valid XHTML 1.0 out of the box, XForm will be part of XHTML2. Most browsers do not even support XForm, so the usage of XForm outside from intranet applications is a bit science fiction, not standard.

Let us asume a time jump to the end of the decade. DNN and all browsers support XHTML2 and XForms. Most module developers will love XForm and XForm is the default editor for their data.

What will be the purpose of a separate XForm module? What will be so special?

Clearly you haven't yet noticed the XForms extension on the Mozilla Firefox browser. Or XForms that comes with OpenOffice 2.0. Or for that matter IBM's Visual XForms Designer that comes for free as an Eclipse plug-in.

To ensure that we are able to access our collected data in the long run by as many applications as possible the use of well-documented open standards is to my opinion the way to go. So why wait till the end of the decade ?

Regards,

PeterNL
