Why do it the hard way? Just make a text/html module that will appear on all pages and edit the HTML source and paste you code there. Make the title hidden and do not allow printing or RSS in the module settings. have your text module sit in the bottom container.

This method will always work even if you update your DNN, SKin or whatever.

Google Analytics expects the javascript to be part of the head tag of a page.. inserting it with a text/html module will not work....

Works fine for me exactly as I described it. I've been using for six months now.

While this was true when Google Analytics launched, they now ask for the code to be put in the body: http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?answer=26908&topic=7325

So, nfx's solution should not have any problems unless they change things back.

Google Analytics hasn't required their urchin to be in the HEAD tag of a page for a long time now, as Sellitna pointed out, it should be in the body region of all your pages.

You can either:
1.) Use a GA module - There are free ones out there and they all work about the same.
2.) Use a Text/HTML module - No custom module install required.
3.) Place the script directly in your skin.

With options 1 or 2, you need the specify that the module display on ALL pages.

With option 3, you don't have to do anything else except make sure that it's on all your site skins (a trivial task).

Interesting note; Microsoft will also be coming out with an alternative using the technolgy from DeepMatrix.
