Well, I have and I haven't. I found a lot of customers did not like paying recurring charges, and also a lot of potential customers did not like the word "subscription", as it implies future financial obligation, even if it is not a recurring charge.

I have therefore done away with recurring charges, and introduced Product Suites. There's a very fine line between what constitutes the "subscription" model - I know over free updates for x amount of time, and then IF you repurchase the suite you get a 30% discount (but only if it has not run out yet). I also have introduced single product licensing.

So in essence it's been more a branding exercise (nobody say the word "subscription"!), but I have done away with the recurring billing and instead offer incentives to repurchase.
