As someone who has never been able to get the speerio controls running outside the speeerio skin I looked for an alternative.
Try this thread with info from Nina Meirs about her new XFlex module which I found to be excellent.

Has anybody looked into alternatives to the repositary module. Let's say you are an intergalactic hotel agent and you want a directory. You want to be able to drill down by category, lets say planet/country/county/town. You want to have flashy picture of the country/town and hotel etc. You might even employ a web service to show a map at any stage.

Of course the code may have to be customised to some extent, nothing is ever simple, but you know what I mean, structured but flashy!

Actually it's seems to me like simple table that reference to it's self.
For example database table: Employee with Managers and Employees 
 In your situation it will be: some thing like this.

 Two tables one is LocationTypes with the following “1-planet/2-country/3-county/4-town”
Other table will be Locations with following structure:
------------
LocationID INT IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL  -- PK
LocationType INT NOT NULL
LocationName NVARCHAR(100) NOT NULL
LocationDescription NVARCHAR(500) NULL
Location IMAGE NULL -- or reference to server folders with filenames
ParentLocation INT  NULL -- this is your foreign key to LocationID column   DONE :)

Alex,its the repository module, i think it's running the latest version. As for the resize, theres a new skins object coming in 5.0 that will allow you to create a style swapper to control resizing (can't recall the sko name off the top of my head)
