I was thinking of that but my other issue is on portal creation - I need to run it after a portal is created - otherwise I will have an empty links module on new portals until the sproc is run.

PS: I'm not actually a 'SQL' guy - just started using it a couple months ago.

My background is in Foxpro, VB, Classic ASP, and some other Unix/Solaris languages - I'm having a hard time finding a place to start learning .net 2.x

Just had another brainstorm / idea variation

Instead of using a list for my links I can use links from a master site - that should even allow better intergration to the DNN functionality
