I am running DNN 4.4.1 on SQL Server 2000 not SQL2005. Is there an imperative to move to SQL2005 in the near future?

I would like to upgrade the 3.0.13 to 4.4.1 since I have 450 users and there doesn't seem to be a straightforward way to migrate the users.  I have backed up the existing files for 3.0.13. I have backed up the database.  I have no 3rd party modules and the site is very simple.  The big concern I have is with Contacts.  There does not seem to be a Contacts module in 4.4.1.  So if I upgrade...do I lose Contacts?

Please help.

you can upgrade from 3.0.13 to 3.3.7 and the users will be migrated w/o issues (except there are already issues in your data). You can continue upgrade to 4.4.1 without loosing your modules. Please read the upgrade notes here.

Regarding Contacts, developement has been terminated, and users are suggeted to use UserDefinedTable instead, that offers a number of additional options. We are working to provide a migration path soon.

AFAIK there has been no decision into this direction at the moment, and there are very few advantages in the language of the new version to be used. This might change however with VS 9 ("Orcas") and the support of LINQ.
