Sorry, but I think this post is becoming confusing.

There are two ways of uploading images. One is the quick upload function from the editor and the image gallery. The post says that the image gallery does not have a "tab" with upload options and the image shown is one for the quick upload.????

a) The quick upload is not enabled by default because it needs more expertise on its use. You can enable it by editing the Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\Custom\fckconfig.js file and changing the FCKConfig.ImageUpload variable to true. (Clear your DNN and browser cache after each fckconfig.js edition). The uploads are made only to the root folder, so the user must have write acess to that folder.

b) The image gallery is accessed by using the "Browse server" buton and it opens a new window showing a image gallery. Inside the image gallery there is an option to upload files if the user has write permissions.

upload tab can be shown using fckconfig.js .. but i think that this doesnt solve your issue.

What I discovered is, that FCK doesnt "see" user rights added directly to user ... try to create some user role, add user to this role and set writing permission for this role on some dir ... in this way i'm able to upload images to this dir using "browse server" button.
