A critical error has occurred. Could not find file '{host}\www\Install\Temp\fsyt5d3r\Map.dnn' WHY?!?!

That's an installer error. Either something deleted it from the temp install directory or it couldn't unpack the install package in the first place. Not a map issue. Try asking again over in the Core forum.

OK then ... Can you please point me in the right direction on how to upgrade a DNN module that used to reside in "Available Modules"

OK. In short, go here: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/D...
Get the module you need and download the install version locally. Then install that zip as the extension. That will get you the latest version of the module instead of the one that shipped with your distribution. 

If it's the map module, you need to do it a little differently. Once you download 1.0.9 SOURCE version, unzip the code into a directory. Download my patch. It's just a text file. Read it and you can figure out what to change in each file. Modify those files in the editor, recompile the code, rezip the contents with the modified js, ascx and DLL files, then install that version.

PS: I am working on preparing my patched version of Map as 1.0.10 for the release tracker so I can get it into the delivery package so nobody else has to go through that stuff.
