I installed a clean version of DNN 5.4.4 today.  The install went fine and I can run the DNN from IIS.

When I try and build the solution in Visual Studio 2008, I am getting errors and the build fails.  The errors are coming from:
DotNetNuke.Modules.Taxonomy.VS2008.vbproj
DotNetNuke.Modules.Messaging.VS2008.vbproj

And the Output is this:

C:\inetpub\DNN_5_4\Modules\Taxonomy\Views\EditVocabulary.ascx.vb(34) : error BC30149: Class 'EditVocabulary' must implement 'Event SelectTerm(sender As Object, e As Web.UI.WebControls.TermsEventArgs)' for interface 'IEditVocabularyView'.

C:\inetpub\DNN_5_4\Modules\Taxonomy\Views\EditVocabulary.ascx.vb(45) : error BC30401: 'SelectTerm' cannot implement 'SelectTerm' because there is no matching event on interface 'IEditVocabularyView'.

C:\inetpub\DNN_5_4\Modules\Messaging\Components\MessagingBusinessController.vb(60) : warning BC42104: Variable 'permission' is used before it has been assigned a value. A null reference exception could result at runtime.

C:\inetpub\DNN_5_4\Modules\Messaging\Views\MessageList.ascx.vb(35) : error BC30149: Class 'MessageList' must implement 'Event DeleteSelectedMessages(sender As Object, e As Web.UI.WebControls.DnnGridItemSelectedEventArgs)' for interface 'IMessageListView'.

How do I fix these errors?

Or how can turn off these projects from getting built in Visual Studio 2008.  I don't forsee myself ever needing to touch this source code.

check the references of the projects - especially web site - to make sure it meets your current situation.

not sure what to look for, the error seems to be with the code itself (same as the list in this post) for example:
Error 6 Class 'MessageList' must implement 'Event DeleteSelectedMessages(sender As Object, e As Web.UI.WebControls.DnnGridItemSelectedEventArgs)' for interface 'IMessageListView'. C:\DotNetNuke_Community_05.04.04_Source\Modules\Messaging\Views\MessageList.ascx.vb 35 20 DotNetNuke.Modules.Messaging.VS2008

the error is caused by missing or wrong references included in the project. review project references to make sure, they are pointing to the web site and Dotnetnuke.dll
