My method works in all modes tested in 5.5 and 5.6 and asp.net 4 and 3.5

Are you putting the code inside one of the  panes?

Then an error mayby occure.

Well,  I tried it with the <%=PortalSettings...%>  as well,  entering layout mode with this inline results in a Site Error.  When I remove it, no site error.

So I can move on, I'm just using the Text Module and placing the token in there as Sebastian suggested.

Thanks.

Strange, must be something else in the skin that fails in combinationwith it as it should work...
I just tried in DNN 5.6 to be sure and this works fine:
<%=PortalSettings.ActiveTab.Title%>

Anyway, the text skin object is a good solution too.

Use the text if it works :)

This will also work
 <%= Convert.ToString(PortalSettings.ActiveTab.TabName)%>
No need for a label then.

The error ocures if you put the code in one of the panes.
Eg ContentPane or RightPane .....

I asume thats not the right place for the title or tabname.
