What exactly are you trying to change in the div - is it something that would be better handled on the client side using jQuery.

Clientside scripts (just like cookies, java and flash) should be optional as much as possible. This has allways been true in the past and still is today. Screen readers and webcrawlers don't use javascript, people have allways had the option to turn it off manually and the noscript-plugin is the third most popular firefox plugin, so even 'normal' users might have javascript disabled. It should not break the site for those visitors (as you will most likely lose those visitors).

Javascript is not an iption, it's optional.
