How does something like that get missed in the testing process?  Wasn't that sorting a major feature of the new release?  Is there any idea the next version would have the fix implemented?

I am not sure how this happened, I know that it works in the build that we had completed in July of last year, but I am not sure of what changes happened after the fact as I was not brought in on them.

I have requests for information out to DotNetNuke Corp, as well as Chris Hammond as I have no idea what the current status is on this project, the project leadership, or roadmap.  As soon as I get a response from someone I'll let you know.
