Don, It is great that you are passionate about Telerik, but there are others who are equally passionate about jQuery and jQuery UI.  As you can see just from this thread, there is no way that we will please everyone.  No matter what we implement someone from this thread will be complaining.

As for specific problems you are finding, we'll be looking at ways we can trim payload and optimize the system so that we are not paying the huge performance penalties that are shown in CTP3.  This is definitely something that will be addressed prior to release.

Joe, what you say is part of the payload problem. To incorperate again a other ajax / develop system in the core and using it partly is pushing performance down the drain. If the core developers are not working with one ajax / develop system the problem will raise every time.

I now that dotnetnuke want to have a lot of extensions, but the core should be mean and fast. And that is where the problem exists, the core it getty bloated with yet another framework. And thats why sites get slow.

The performance issue has little if anything to do with the inclusion of jQuery UI.  Since we only use the full package of jQuery UI, it is only downloaded to the client machine once and cached.  This becomes even less of a problem if you enable the CDN on your website in which case many users will aready have jQuery on their machine.

I would love to have just one framework, unfortunately, there is no one framework which does everything we need.  We tried very hard to not need jQuery UI, but the reality is that Telerik just didn't satisfy our requirements for many client side features.

Joe, the output code is bloated. it included parts of custom javascript script, ms ajax, telerik css/js and now jquery ui.

I understand that not all is possible with telerik, that's fine. But the outputted code is getting bulky. Simple pages with only a text html box got 50 to 100k javascript / css because of the inclusion of the 4 frameworks.

The hosting providers are smiling because every transfered bit you pay.

DotNetNuke now is crazy big Framework. Refactoring takes a lot of time. DNN Guys make a lot: support, development, testing - its crazy amount of work. Be patient!
