Thanks for explaining the current set up, Cathal. I think this is a shame and another sign that the DNN project pays lip service to being a community development project, but is actually a pretty closed commercial one. The SVN repo feels like a token effort.

I remember submitting patches a while back and they went unnoticed for months. Looking at the CodePlex patches page now, there are a measly 12 from the community (inc 3 from myself), mostly "Being evaluated" (as far back as Apr 10). That's hardly surprising when you see the lack of commit comments, version branches or even version tagging (lack version tagged on CodePlex was 59004, Mar 11 - v5.6.2).

Not your fault of course, but it's giving us cause to re-evaluate dependency on DNN and switch to true community developed projects like WP, Drupal or Joomla.

We are working with the limitations of the tools somewhat as codeplex offers limited integration (and we can't work with it solely as we have a complete integrated build setup with unittests/specflow/agile development)

As for patches, I will request that the codeplex area get's shut down as we do not actively monitor it as gemini is where 99.9% of issues/patches are logged. We do pull a lot of contributions from gemini (8 of the 100 fixes in 6.1.4 were community contributions, and between 15-20 community contributions are scheduled for 6.1.5), so this is the approriate place to add patchs -please check the "includes code fix" checkbox to let us know of a contribution so we can ensure quick turn-around.

All our source code changes are published publicly, either as nightly source code pushes or via source code packages for "previous" major branch releases.
