How can we extract our site from one host and install it on another?

Our web host will no longer be supporting DotNetNuke and our site is hosted as a Portal on their server. How can we get all our pages, files and images off their Portal database and transfer the site to another DotNetNuke hosting provider? There are lots of instructions on how to move a site from development to production etc., but these seem to assume there is only one site in the database. What happens when there are lots of different sites in the database but you only want to move one of them?

Is there a way to export just one Portal from the database?

I suggest you setup a new DNN installation with your new hosting provider.
Then 'export' the content of the site - will get text, images, etc. from the site.
You will need FTP access to your current site to pick up skin files.
As long as you make sure that you have all the necessary modules installed on your new site you should be able to upload the skin and then import the content.
There will be a few other loose ends to tidy up but that is the bulk of it.

is your site hosted as part of a shared DNN installation, i.e. just a single DNN portal in a number of websites they host, or have you got your own dedicated DNN installation with a single DNN web site? in the second case, ask your hoster to provide you a zip of all files and a database backup and choose a new hoster, who is able to install your DNN using it.

To Carol: This sounds like a good idea. Is there an "EXPORT" feature/function in DNN that allows me to export the database content as well as all the images etc.? Where would I find it?

To Sebastian: The website is a single portal in a shared installation all running off one copy of DNN and one SQL database. There are a number of other sites also running on the installation that are nothing to do with me. I guess they will have the same questions to ask.
Zipping up the whole DNN is not an option because a) it would be HUGE and b) it contains other sites.

There is no single "export" function, and exporting a child portal is not a trivial exercise via SQL.

I'm assuming, because of the shared installation, that you don't have FTP access or SQL access either?
