AFAIK the module is used, when retrieving items associated with tags, which might get assigned to pages or modules - if the appropriate skin object is included in the Skin or container.

Looks like it shows search results from your tags.

Add '?tag=xxx' to your SearchResults page where xxx is a tag you have used on a search-enabled module and it will show you results.

My guess is there's a setting on the search control to enable searching tags. (Since it needs to be added to the querystring that calls SearchResults) I believe the stock skin pre-dates the 'tags' system so you would probably have to go in and edit it to add in this functionality

FWIW -- I was getting this same error and I simply deleted the module from the page then added it back to the page and it started working as expected.

Weldon's recommendation works like a charm!

Delete the original module from the "Search Results" page, then simply add a new instance of the "Search Results" module and title it "Search Results".

When the new module is added, you'll be able to access the module "Settings" (the invisible dropdown menu) when you mouse over the title.

Select "Settings" to specify the title and description length as well as the maximum number of search results returned and the results per page. Leave the numbers blank to return the default 10 results per page.
