Hello all.

Is it possible to let users delete messages from Message Center?
I see the "archive" option, but I don't see a way of deleting messages.
I'm running DNN 7.1.1

regards,
Ricardo Simão

no, at present there is no permanent delete option  -you can log a request for this at https://dnntracker.atlassian.net if you'd like to see this but I believe the problem is that messages have 1 instance whether or not they are to a single person or to a group, so it's not possible to delete a group message without removing the user from the role (or without redesigning the message store to store instances per user which would mean it was dramatically larger)

INHO, there should be a "soft delete" per user (archive needs to be done per recipient as well) and a cleanup job, if all handles for a message (by sender and recipients) have been soft deleted.

Thanks Cathal
I understand that storing messages by user would increase the amount of information stored in DNN, but I really think that deleting messages is an essential feature to Message Center.
As soon as I showed Message Center to my customer the question was "how can I delete messages?"

Sebastian is right.
If DNN lets archive messages by user, why not letting delete messages? At least "soft deleting".
I'll log my request.
