Like many others, I am new to DNN, but am excited about the framework and plan to use it extensively.  I plan to use the events module on my new site, but I have been unable to identify the means for an administrator to view the list of participants registered for an event.  How is this done?

I am also interested in having a designated user receive an email when someone registers for an event.  Does the moderator feature satisfy this need?  In most cases, event registration approval is not required, and it seems like that is the primary purpose for the moderator function.

Thank you for your help!

Tom

Hi Tom,

Two questions in there...

To the first one, where do you find a list of enrollees? This can be found at the bottom of the page in the enrollments section when editing an event.

On the second. This is a weak area of the module, which we plan to improve in coming releases (currently it is planned for the next - 4.1.0). I think, that currently the only emails that are sent around enrollment are:-

  • When an enrollment is moderated an email will go to the moderator to request approval
  • When a paid enrollment is made, an email goes to the moderator (I think, but it maybe the paypal email address)

If you look on Gemini (link in my signature) for release 4.1.0, you should see some items along the lines of improving these notification emails. Feel free to add some comments if you have further requirments. EVT-7226, EVT-7228 and EVT-7612 seem like likely items.

Cheers
Roger

Thank you for your thoughtful reply, Roger.  I found the list of enrollees.

Next question, and perhaps more critical.  Does this module only permit enrollment to people who have registered on the site?  In the enrollment section, I see Enrollment Role, and I expected that "None" would permit the public (those who are unregistered visitors to the site) to enroll, but that appears not to be the case in my testing.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Tom,

Currently support is only provided for registered users. I think None means that any registered user can enroll, but I haven't got by test environment in front of me to check.

If you feel this should be otherwise, then please register your request onto Gemini (address in my signature), and it can be considered for a future version.

FYI - in 4.1.0 the enrollee list will optionally be available on the event detail screen, with a configurable set of data available for viewers and editors.

Cheers
Roger

Thank you again, Roger, although the news was dissapointing.  The Events module has a very nice feature set, and was influential in my decision to migrate my site to DNN.   Frankly I am very surprised that this capability doesn't exist and that it hasn't even made the enhancement list as yet.

In my experience, website registration requires a level of commitment from a site visitor above that which might be required to provide a simply name and email address to allow enrolling in an event.  Perhaps the original intent of the module was for existing employees, customers, and business partners and not for sales-related seminars, webinars, and other pre-sale activities.

Once an enhancement to allow the public to enroll in designated events is rolled out, I believe the audience for the events module could be expanded by 30% or more.

Thanks again Roger.

-Tom
