I was looking at the issue travking and have seen a couple of related incidents and efforts to clean them up. (posted at end)

Well, if you think the upgrade to 4.0.2 will clean the old procs...then I'll try the upgrade.  ....And 99% seems pretty good to me!

From EVT-3895 it follows that there may be other obsolete procs in there, but let's see about these first and see what happens.  Will let you know.

Thanks.

Upon a clean 3.3.x build, there are seven stored procedures which appear to be obsolete. Each stored procedure is referencing one or more columns that no longer exist in their respective tables. This was discovered while troubleshooting a database backup and restore script.

The stored procedures are as follows:

AddEvent
DeleteEvent
GetEvent
GetEvents
GetEventsByDate
UpdateEvent
Forum_ForumUserViewsUpdate

Although the presence of these procedures doesn't appear to affect 3.3.x functionality, it does cause issues when attempting to run auto-generated SQL scripts to rebuild the database.

Hi Ivan,

If you look at the Fixed For Version against 3895, you will see fixed in 04.00.01. 7738 was a security fix which I was being circumspect about until we had 4.0.1 released. And when I said 99%, I should have said 99.9% .

Cheers
Roger

Hey Roger,

Ok, the upgrade to Events 4.0.2 does clean up the two obsolete procs.

I ran the publish process again and as I expected, I ran into one of the procs referenced in EVT 3895 (Forum_ForumUserViewsUpdate).  I dropped it manually and that solved the obsolete proc problem.

Now I have to deal with another problem.  The publishing wizard tries to assign object permissions to the \"localmachine"\ASPNET user and that user doesn't exist in the remote host.  When I installed DNN initially, I used Windows Authetication for the database (I guess a bad move?).  I probably also read somewhere I needed to add some DB object permissions to the ASPNET user, so I did that.

Now I have to find out if I can change the DB security back to SQL Server Autentication or how to make the database go through the publishing process without trouble.  It's the way I can move a Local Development installation to the remote hosted installation. (I know this is not the forum for it, but any hints will be appreciated.)

Thanks for the help.

Ivan,

Did you ever determine a list of the procedures that needed to be dropped?  I am dealing with a DNN install done by another company (which I inherited). I tried using the Publishing Wizard and am having similar errors when attemtping to restore the DB.  The version of DNN that I am dealing with is 4.04

I am looking to copy the site in it's entirity to my local system from the host (Which doesn't allow direct use of BAK files), because I wanted to test an upgrade to the latest DNN version.  But I can't get the DB restored on my local machiene because of these errors.

Help!

Thanks,
   Ben
