Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated.  I guess we will give 3.0.2 a try. Fingers crossed.

We would also like to use Events/Calender as an event enrollment tool with an emphasis on reminder notifications. I've been waiting over a year for a stable version. (Thanks for your hard work Alan & team!) Although much more stable now, these small problems keep this tool from being successful. My other issue is that it is so hard to change the look and feel. That said, I haven't found a replacement.
