I tried doing this procedure on a trial site first
It is a DNN 5.4.1
I deleted the tables and SPs
Error on uploading the module 5.02Upload Results

If you have reached this page it is because the installer needs to gather some more information, before proceeding.
Error reading the zip package - see below

StartJob Reading Installation Manifest file
Info Reading Package Manifest - Module - DNN_Events
Failure Install aborted - The module being installed is not compatible with your host application version ( an upgrade is required )

(OK, I can see I need 5.5x, will do the upgrade.)

The problem is if an install fails, it won't back out all changes. So tables get left behind and not all sqldaaproviders will correctly handle that. To be honest I haven't stress tested the early providers in the module, they were created before I got involved. So I find it s best in these situation to clean it down and start afresh.

OK Roger, Thanks.
Well, I've gone back to my 5.5.1 site. I dropped all the primary keys and then dropped all the tables for the Event Module. I then deleted the Event Module Stored procs.
It did try to install, but it failed for two errors.
//First
Info Starting Installation - Config
Info Creating backup of previous version - web.config
Failure Exception - Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Failure Installation Failed - Config
//Second
Failure Exception - Could not find file '...\wwwroot\Install\Temp\xnteohxfresources.zip'.

The resources.zip file is present in the install.zip
Any advice?
Regards
Dave

As for the cleanup of tables and sprocs, you can always execute the Events uninstall script using the SQL option from the host menu.
The uninstall script should be able to cleanup anything in the database that is left behind and afaik, the uninstall script will not fail if the object isn't there anymore if it tries to delete it.

The uninstall script may do it, but I think it is currently setup to uninstall a correctly installed module. Therefore if there is something that exists in version 3.1.0, but is removed by upgrades on the way to version 5.2.0, I don't think the uninstall script will remove it.

Cheers
