Hi Ian,

Installing the module should be no different to from installing any othe module. I download from codeplex to my PC, then use the install wizard to pick the package up from my PC, and follow the prompts. There are no choices to be made (apart from cancel), so I don't think there is any complexity.

Feel free to mail me offline at webmaster @ the domain in my profile where I may be able to offer further support.

Regards
Roger

Hi Roger

 I have now successfully installed the Events Module without any problems, thank you for all your help.

 The reason for all the trouble was nothing to do with the module; it was that I was using the default installation from Microsoft’s Web Matrix download of DNN. This has a default site name of the following:-

 "DotNetNuke® Community Edition"

 By completely removing DNN and reinstalling without leaving the default site name, the Events Module installed first time.

 Once again, thank you for all your help in getting to the bottom of these problems.

 Kind Regards

 Ian Galletly

Hi Ian/Roger

I am going through exactly the same situation here with the Events module, the only difference being that I didn't leave the default site name when I installed, but chose my own!

Could you point me towards how you diagnosed your problem? I'm *slightly* concerned that I have Full SQL 2008 and also SQL 2008 Express installed on my machine, but I left the default installation option of using SQL Compact edition as I thought final deployment to target server would probably be easier. However, the whole mess of errors when I try to redeploy suggests it may be trying to use the wrong database, as it thinks that none of none of its expected tables exist.

Although the first installation (and the subsequent one after removing it using the uninstall script) apparently "work" as all the "successfully installed" messages display, but the module just isn't there. It's only on subsequent installations that all the missing table/object stuff appears.

Thanks or any suggestions

Ade

Hello again - just a little more info which might mean something to someone...

From the event log I can see it successfully executing all the SqlDataProvider upgrade script files from 3.01.00 to 4.01.00, then it inexplicably fails on 4.01.01 because it suddenly can't find "part of the path" ??

Here are the last relevant entries:

Info:: Creating backup of previous version - Installation\04.01.00.SqlDataProvider
Info:: Created - Installation\04.01.00.SqlDataProvider
Info:: Executing 04.01.00.SqlDataProvider
Info:: Start Sql execution: 04.01.00.SqlDataProvider file
Info:: End Sql execution: 04.01.00.SqlDataProvider file
Info:: Creating backup of previous version - Installation\04.01.01.SqlDataProvider
Info:: ExceptionSystem.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Users\Adrian.Lewis\Documents\My Web Sites\dotnetnuke\Install\Temp\jssyqs5k\Installation\04.01.01.SqlDataProvider'. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.File.InternalCopy(String sourceFileName, String destFileName, Boolean overwrite) at DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.FileSystemUtils.CopyFile(String

I've looked at a previous "uncleaned-up" directory left over in Install\Temp after a previous installation attempt, and 4.01.01 up to 5.03.03 are all there, so it looks like *something* may be deleting the temp directory before the installation is complete in this instance? Very odd that my installation fails at exactly the same place 4.01.01) as Ian's though?

Frustrating!

Ade.

This one is frustrating me as well, because I am unable to duplicate, and seem unable to get good information on it.

I don't have a SQL express install, but don't think it is that. Are you able to look at the temp directory as the install progresses, to see if anything strange is happening. I'll also investigate tomorrow if there is anything different about the 4.1.1 file.

Late here now,so that will be tomorrow.

Cheers
Roger
