Jeff, there are still some bugs in the Calendar and I am working hard to correct them and hope to publish another version very soon...The TimeZone will be consistent (i.e converted to user's timezone, unless not logged in...then the site timezone takes precedence).

Alan, I did not mean to come across as a complaint at all.  I compliment you on your fine work.  I just wanted to post the observation I was having.  I see other postings both here and on your own website about various so I just wanted to ensure my experience was captured.

Even with the issues the Avanced Calendar module exceeds the core/sub-project module and is apparently moving faster.

It continues to surprise me that sole developers can build, modify and offer modules that exceed the core modules and core sub-projects in features and speed of development.  Especially when the sub-projects have "teams" and many willing users/testers/helpers in the wings.  Especially when all of this revolves around a website framework that holds as its core features the ability to grant permissions to many authors with ability to update content, upload files to fine grained pages.  It seems the teams have trouble keeping their "project" pages and roadmaps updated and have to jump through many hoops to post files for downloading.

Thanks Jeff.  The problem, as with other Open Source projects, is that they're mostly made up of volunteer developers and they work in their spare time (most, like me have normal day gigs as software engineers).  I am continually amazed that we've been able to accomplish what we have.  DNN is a very complex environment when you think about what's been developed...usually the team members have never met face-to-face and there are a lot of diverse opinions on what features should/should not be included.  I have been given an opportunity to lead the events module and have several talented developers that  have offered to help contribute work to the module...so you should see the speed of change increase.  But, hopefully you and others can understand technology is not usually the problem, organization and people usually create more issues.

I agree about the suggestion about the ability to add fields to a registration form. May I suggest something similar to the way Mollyguard.com works.  I find this nice and simple.

Another suggestion is being able to set any pricing depending on the users role as well as having 'options' that can contribute to the final price.

I understand that 3.2 is considered Beta, but why not release the source so those of us going in our own direction have the benefit of various bug fixes, etc? These are features that we were working on adding to the previous version (the only one the source code is available) of AVCalendar. This is for a community events calendar where non-authenticated users may enter events but are moderated.

1) Updated some ‘plumbing’ for 3.2 (you’ve done it too now)
2) Add Event - Added an option to place ‘Add Event’ as a separate module. This allows a non-authenticated user to add events. The event is moderated and cannot be modified by a non-authenticated user once submitted. This also required it to have a drop-down of calendars for them to choose from.
3) Location – We modified the Event screen to have a ‘one-time-only’ location. Basically it gets added to the Location table but with a new field “Drop Down” that’s not active so it won’t display to the Drop Down unless the Moderator chooses to add it.
4) Free Text Time – Added a box that allows for a free text for time that would display stuff like
8AM – 12PM Seminar
12PM – 1PM Lunch
1PM – 5PM Speaker
– or –
Monday-Thursday 1PM-5PM
Friday 1PM -10PM
Saturday 10AM-12PM
5) TabID Text (alternate to ‘Notes’) – We’re adding the ability to display content from a different tab instead of using the Notes section. We have content that needs to be in a certain structure on our site but want to reference that content without duplicating it within Events. Sort of like a shadow module functionality within events.
6) Search - Specific search form limited to just the events, by category, by calendar (not using the default DNN ISearchable)
7) ** Skinnable List – ‘skinnable’ event list where you can customize and define how you want the event list to display by module placement. (This is similar to the Repository Module list.)

I'm interested in hearing of anyone else's interest in these type of enhancments and when source will be available.
Thanks,
Paul
