OK did found a solution...  The Portal language issues and the explaining for the work around did my change all the non standard websites to the en-US language in the dbo.PortalLocalization and thats worked for my upgraded DNN 5.0.4 site.   Did first a check which site did work with another language then the standard en-US

The Telerik assembly was explicitly removed from the 5.4.0/1 Upgrade packages becuase it will throw an exception if the user is upgrading from 5.2/5.3 which has an earlier version of the assembly.

Unfortunately removing it from the Upgrade package means that users prior to 5.2 may have issues - if the Package which contains the Telerik assembly doesn't install correctly during the Upgrade.

So - I would recommend that users upgrade first to 5.2.3 - and then upgrade to 5.4.1.

Charles thanks for the comment.

To complete this issues... some days later I challenged the missing Portals in the Host Portal View....

Every portal which I changed where missed in the Host Portal View..

I logged in the missing portal with the admin account and changed the default language AGAIN to us-US and after the change they where back AGAIN in the Host Portal View...

Thanks all I upgrade from 5.3 to 5.4 i have same error for Telerik and error for SQL provider but this when i copy the DotNetNuke.SqlDataProvider.dll from install and pate to ugreade it ran. 1-Could not load file or assembly 'Telerik.Web.UI, Version=2009.3.1104.35, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=121fae78165ba3d4' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040) 2-Name 'termsSelector' is not declared. C:\DotNetNuke\admin\Modules\ModuleSettings.ascx.vb 429 21 C:\DotNetNuke\ Thanks
