That post does not apply - I do not run a multi-language , multi-portal system. There are only 2 portals on this server, and they are exact copies of each other, with only one difference - one has the word "Staging" in the front of its DNS, and the other does not. Both of them should be English only - however, neither of them had any entries in the POrtalLanguages table. The Languages table was also empty. I filled the Language table in with data from a clean straight install of a 5.1. I hacked the DB to manually create the correct entries for the languages in the portal settings. Tonight I will try to upgrade again. I have to wait until nighttime because I have to take a full backup of the site before I make the upgrade, because when it fails, it completely destroys the entire system. I'll update this thread with my results.

i tried the upgrade after setting the portal default language to english and.......... exact same failure, catastrophic collapse of all portal systems with runtime errors on pageload. SO... I went into the Portals folder and added "en-us" to the CultureCode column, and reran the upgrade... this time only three things failed: 00:00:05.406 - Executing Application Upgrades: 05.03.00 Error! 00:00:07.109 - Installing Package File HTML_Community_05.02.00_Install: Error! 00:00:07.750 - Installing Package File Messaging_01.01.00_Install: Error! 00:00:07.906 - Installing Package File Taxonomy_01.01.00_Install: Error! Unfortunately, there are no duplicate rows in PortalLocalization. It doesn't seem like this has posed any PROBLEMS for the site however.... The Failure on HTML_COMMUNITY module/package is unnerving, however. I don't know where to look for details on why this failed...
