I did use the upgrade zip file but I must have done some wrong because now I have the Install screen when I browse the site in IIS 7.   On a workstation browser I get the Under Construction message.  You don't want to know the trouble I had with Microsofts Hyper-V and trying to finally be able to login the my virtual server again, getting it as a member server on my domain and getting DNN back to this sorry state.  Right now I would be happy to pay for the services of a knowable person to get this school district site up a running again.  I didn't memtion I was sick for 3 days as well.

Error Installing DotNetNuke

Current Assembly Version: 5.2.1

ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider

Does this mean the DNN 5.5 update needs to be unzip into my DNN 5.2 folder again? BTW the restore was done by restoring a previous version of a Hyper-V virtual hard drive and virtual machine.

Thanks for whatever help you can give.

there seems to be a problem accessing the database. please review both connection strings in your web.config (need to be identical and have to point to your database). Make sure the database has been properly restored as well. Are you using file based access or attached database in sql server?

The site is up and running hopefully for good.  After all I when through the last problem was that the database was locked by some process.  I found that out when I tried to attach to it with the SQL Manager ( the error said it was in use by another process).  Restarting the server didn't help. Finally after some research I downloaded the GUI version of "Handle".  I didn't know which process was causing the problem so I just guessed and kill a few.  When I tried to attach to it with SQL Manger again it worked.  When I tried the web site it came up.  Even though those killed process are still dead at this point I'm to gun shy to restart the server so for now I'll leave as is.  BTW I'm still running DNN 5.2.1

Thank to All Who Helped

I have just upgraded from 5.2 to 5.5 and now have all sorts of problems.  1.  The html/text editor no longer functions.  It is looking for the TelerikEditorProvider.  2.  I went to install the Telerik provider and none of the links appear on the extensions page to allow me to install any extension, new or existing.  I am using the minimal extropy skin so I know that the missing links are not a skin issue....  I did the "upgrade" using the complete install package as I normally do.

Help!
