Actually the issue is more about how the DNN6 compares with the competition - and the only other CMS in the frame [see www.cmsmatrix.org ] appears to be Umbraco. DotNetNuke is easier to [user] manage, administrate and host.

Hopefully the market will determine the speed at which modules get 'upgraded' [don't start!] to C#.. The suppliers quicker off the mark may promote the fact that their module are 'Core compatible' and therefore use that smaller memory footprint...

In the meantime, we have a new version that's as smart as any in either the open source or commercial marketplace.
Well done the DNN team...

D.

Please note, as I said I was only speculating that the change in language might have had a temporary affect - primarily as there are so many pages in dotnetnuke that background compile - meaning that the csc compiler would be doing a lot more work than usual (dll's don't matter as they're already compiled and i doubt many sites have lots of app_code c# modules)

In terms of BIN folder difference there is ~3mb of difference, most of which comes from the increased telerik dll, and the rest from instrumentation/log4net, but this is not much.

As to the comparison, it's definately something I'll look into in the future but I need to do a lot more research first to ensure we're correctly sampling the data - on that note, the site that I tested yesterday now only has ~75MB private working set, so IIS does clearly clean up if you leave a site for longer (the site I tested yesterday was checked a few minutes after an install)
