I've upgraded my site to 6.2.1 and have switched the site's skin to the Dark Knight skin and the control panel bar is not the standard 6+ install grey ribbon that spans the top of the screen, but rather still reflects the older 5X version of the control panel.

Any thoughts on why or how I could fix this?

Sounds like its set to the old iconbar, you can change this by going to Host > Host Settings > Other Settings tab - Then change the "Control Panel" dropdown to "RIBBONBAR"

For further clarification:  When you do an upgrade, we try not to change major UI elements which might break your existing site.  It is possible that you might have installed a 3rd party control panel, so we left the setting at whatever the previous value was to ensure compatibility.

Thanks for your quick response Joe. That was it and was an easy change. Somehow I totally spaced it on knowing about that setting. Guess I've never poked around in the control panel area too much.

And yes, I do understand the reasoning. Makes sense!
