Hello,

It's a long time since I did not follow what happened here... And I am lost, I don't find if:

* DNN 7 is still a "release candidate" (and therefore not good for live website) ?
* DNN 7 is still free for community member ?

Do you advice me to migrate from DNN 5 to DNN 6 or to DNN 7 ? In one step or in two steps ?

Thanks,
DV FX

Yes
Yes

I don't know the best migration path since you're that far behind but no matter what path you take make sure you back-up everything beforehand.

There is a suggested upgrade path in the DNN Wiki.

Anyway: Save early, save often, test after each step if all modules are working, find which modules to upgrade to a version that fits the DNN version and include these updates to your upgrade path. I upgraded a DNN 4.9.5 site to DNN 6.2.x a while ago, I needed days to find the correct upgrade path for me, but at the end, it was worth it...

Best wishes and good luck!
Michael

OK, thanks a lot for the wiki, I did not know, I found plenty of good information.

Regarding DNN 7, if it's still a "RC", then I assume you do not recommend using it for a prod live website, isn't it ??
Therefore, DNN 6 would be more appropriate, right ?

Thanks.

FX,

DNN 7.0.0 is marked as stable (rel. 11/28/2012), so it is assumed to be used in a production environment. Anyway, I would wait a bit, and in the meantime trying to find an upgrade path and testing all the modules (and esp. third party modules) you have.

Using version 6.2.5 should not be a problem in a production environment.

Best wishes
Michael
