While upgrading my site from 5 to 7, yes I posted previously about this, I then thought I would try this. How can I manually upgrade a module without losing any data related to that module?

At the moment the HTML module version is 5.1.2 and I need to get it up to the current version of 7.x.x.

How can this be done manually?

Thanks!

Hi ,

You can just replace the DotNetNuke.WebControls.dll  and the control file .ascx .

So I understand you correctly,

I would go hunt down the  DotNetNuke.Moduels.Html.dll file in the site and drop in the new version found in the _Install/bin directory  and drop one upon the other. Which of course is found in inetpub\wwwroot\Site\bin.

What about all the items in the Providers directories? Should those get ran as well?

Also, what about the items found in DesktopModules/HTML?

Well, this appears to be a non-issue as it was related to another posting I was having issues with. Anyway, I copied the DLL files over, and also dropped the 7.0.4 files in to the DesktopModules html directory and then hit upgrade. No errors on the upgrade.

HTML module is included in DNN upgrade packages and should be updated automatically during a DNN upgrade. due to it being tightly coupled with the core, I do not suggest installing it on previous versions, there might be compatibility issues.
