Hello everyone, I was hoping someone could help me with this problem.  i've been using dnn since version 4.9 and have upgraded through the years to version 6.2 with very little problems.

I'm currently trying to upgrade from version 6.2.4 to version 7.1.  I've followed the same procedure for every upgrade eccept for this time i've copied the sql2005 dnn database to sql2012.  b4 starting the upgrade, everything seemed to working nicely with  6.2 and the 2012 db.

During upgrade i saw all the successfull upgrade messages and the upgrade complete message, i click on return to site and it brings me back to the upgrade page and am unable to access the site.

Thansk in advance for any help.

After restore the database, you have to use the sp_update-users_login property to add the Login account to the usernam in the database.  First then you can update!  Restore from backup your instance files and the create the database new, run the sp_update_users-login, be sure TCP/IP Protokoll is configured for the Client- and Server-Protocol, then test your page.  If all worked well, be sure upgradepackage is unlocked, extract it and run the upgrade.

Hi Matthias,

How does that help his problem? He said it was all working with SQL2012 BEFORE the upgrade.

Best wishes,

Thanks for the reply matthias, Richards comment, although not very helpfull, is correct.  Instead of upgrading directly from 6.2.4 to 7.1 i decided to start over and upgrade from 6.2.4 to 6.2.9 and i got the exact same upgrade loop result.  There is another post of a user experiencing the same issue i did, but there is no solution to that one either.  Anyone else have this issue upgrading or know of a possible solution?  I appreciate any comment anyone would have.

Thanks again.

Just to clarify, the update packages do get unlocked before extracting and then copied in the dnn install folder.  I did not run the sp_userswithout logins proc, but instead recreated the dnn_user login and account on the new SQL2012 database and then updated the connection strings in the web.config
