the bug was logged to https://dnntracker.atlassian.net/brow... but wasn't got to as part of 7.3.3 (which is codefrozen today) - anyone with any further information can post on that support ticket

Please note, I have been informed that as we no longer ship a copy of the DarkKnight skin with DNN (and haven't for some time), we do not support it anymore (i.e. the code does not live in our solution so we can't fix/enhance it). You can find the details of this discussion at https://dnntracker.atlassian.net/brow... as well as a suggested solution that you can apply to the skin.css of DarkKnight

Just recently, I noticed this issues on an upgraded test site, which was using dnn default skin - unfortunately the Skin seems to be depending heavily on specifc CSS and code.
There are a number of great 3rd Party Skins, even free ones like https://aarsysmetro7skin.codeplex.com, http://tidy.skinsbyadammer.com/ and http://www.christoc.com/Products/Hamm...

Adding the next code to the skin.css file (of the skin), will fix the issue.

div#SearchIcon {
cursor: pointer;
background: none no-repeat scroll 2px 2px transparent;
text-align: right;
}
