I have project based on DNN platform v3.x with .net 1.1. This is  quite huge website with many user, portals, modules, etc. I would like to kill this prehistoric version and run the newest version of DNN (7.x).  Is it possible without loss all data and settings?
I would like to take the new source of DNN and upgrade only database. Is it possible?

Marta,
unfortunately it is not as easy, database and files are usually have to play together.
Upgrading from DNN 3 is a big task, especially when there are many 3rd party modules involved (and the skin needs to be replaced as well).
If you need to keep just the users, you may export and import, but if you want to keep pages and content, you need to follow the long upgrade path - it is possible, I have a couple of sites, which were upgrades from DNN 3 or DNN 4 to current version, but I admit that it require some deeper understanding of DNN.

Thank you for your answer!
Import of users is not enough for me, structure of menu is important as well. My current version is 3.0.10. Should I upgrade directly to version 4.x (eg. 4.5.2) or step by step: 3.1.1, 3.2.2, 4.3.7, etc...I'm very sorry there isn't any tool to upgrade only database...

Best Regards from Poland :)

it is not only on the database and not only for the core, but also all extension modules installed.
Especíally with such an old site, I would start upgrading a clone of the site in small steps. I strongly suggest following my old upgrade receipt: http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/tabid/18...

Sebastian,

I contemplate the option of export and import of users. And so I have one  more question: whether for new imported users will be available login? I allow the possibility of forcing change the password, but it is very important to me that all users can log on to the new web-site.
