Hello Gilles,

Thank you for your reply.

I tested the code and it works perfectly, I am so grateful, thank you so much.

To answer your points . . .

The example I was following was from the documentation:
http://www.telerik.com/help/aspnet-aj...
It obtains a reference to the control and calls the get_text() function, I thought that would work for the get_html() method. So I don't understand this example, if the reference has to be obtained as you suggested.

I realise I am not working on the server side, but was just trying to get the content of the editor control via the div object as I couldn't get the function call to work.

Yes, I'm sending the html from the editor to the server via an Ajax call and a web service. Then it will be displayed as part of the content of a page.

Thank you once again.

Best Regards,

Steve

Hi Stephen,

Now, I know why your sample does not works as you want. Functions $("controlName") or Container.find("controlName") ARE NOT EQUAL to $find("controlName")! The first two return a DOM element like I told you in my previous response; while $find("controlName") is a function of MS Ajax inside Sys.Application and return a javascript component identified by his element name!

Here the modified sample using $find:

    <dnn:DnnEditor ID="DNNEDITCONTROL" runat="server" OnClientLoad="OnClientLoad"></dnn:DnnEditor>

    <input id="btnTest" type="button" value="Click Me!" />

    <script type="text/javascript">

         $("#btnTest").click(function () {

            var editorControl = $find("<%= DNNEDITCONTROL.ClientID %>");

            var contentByMSAjax = editorControl.get_html(true);

        });

    </script>

We (team members) are Humans offering their knowledge, their work and their spare time FOR FREE to benefit the community. It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

Hi Gilles,

Ah, OK I see it now, thank you for following up.

Now when using the control I get a message "Web.config registration is missing!" on many of the toolbar options.

Is there some way to somehow point the control at DNN's web.config file? I couldn't see anything obvious in the server side properties.

Steve
