What is the second connections suppose to be? I am having the same exact error and here is my connection string:

<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"/>

Robert,

the 2nd connection String needs the same Database settings as you used for the first connection string.  There are 2 samples in it, one for using the EXPRESS as mdf file connection, and one that connect directly to the SQL server, with serverurl, databasename, sql server username and password.

If you are unsure check the release.config as a sample.

Hello,

For us newbies that just installed that latest version of DNN and are getting that error. WHere is the file we are talking about? its the web.config in the root? how far down is the line? approx...

It is in the web.config file at the root level of the host. When you are here just search on "appSettings" I found my entry towards the top. It should look like: Basically just set the value to the connectionstring value for SiteSqlServer connection string setting. Then save and you should be good to go.
