The (DNN Core) Media Module is downright WORTHLESS!!!  What purpose does it serve?  Has anyone had any luck with this module at all???

Well, finally I got things to work, but I had to do some manual adjustments to the database.
We had de image module installed, and I tried to install the media module.
This partially worked. The image module stores all data in ModuleSettings (or TabModuleSettings, don't know anymore). The media module succesfully  made the media table and moved all image data to the media table.

The thing that didn't work was replacing the image module with the media module. They were both installed while in fact the media module should have replaced the image module.
So what I did was adjust the desktopmodules, moduledefinitions and modulecontrols table by hand (replacing the image module information with the media module information and removing media module information). And finally remove the imagemodule from the /desktopmodules dir and the imagemodule dll from the bin directory.

I guess the module itself is ok, only the install/upgrade process really sucks.

Hi trouble2,

This makes sense.  The site that I am having the most problems with in particular is a site that was installed almost a year ago, when the Image module was the only thing in existence for this.  Then, with all of the upgrades to DNN and whatnot, there have been a lot of problems in this area for me.  The site still has the old Image module and the latest Media module currently installed.  Now, when I add a Media module onto a page, assign it a JPG image and save it, it will not display, no matter what I try.

I obviously cannot uninstall the Image module all together due to the countless number of times it is used on the site.

As a workaround, and for now, I am just having my client use the Text/HTML module to add images onto pages... which has been a good workaround for now, BUT, it would be nice to have this fixed for the long term.
