I have been trying to get the newsfeed module to work on my site which is hosted on godaddy.com.  I have seen a few older threads on this topic, but nothing recent.

Does anyone have an idea of what needs to be done to make the module work on godaddy.com hosted dnn installations.  Currently I am getting the following error from the module.

"Could Not Connect To http://feeds.computerworld.com/Computerworld/Data/Center/News. You Should Verify The Source Address Is Valid And That Your Hosting Provider Has Configured Their Proxy Server Settings Correctly."

Thanks,

I have the same problem.  If someone could recommend where to even start troubleshooting this, it would be appreciated.

I ran into the same issue.

I went into the Host -> Host Settings -> Advanced -> Proxy Settings

I noticed that there was a godaddy server and port listed.  I removed them, and it seemed to get me further as now my News Module will pull data from RSS feeds.

My problem now is that the feed is displaying the source HTML in the module instead of what the html should render.  For some reason the News Module is escapping the html in the feed so it shows up on the page as text instead of actual rendered html code.

Anyone have any idea's?

The some reason is due to the default xsl does NOT allow HTML.  Modify your xsl to use the directive:

disable-output-escaping="yes"

wherever you want the HTML to show.  Be sure you know what and who your newsfeed contains before you do this on a prod server/site, as some folks just love to play with including scripting in their feeds - which could be a troublesome issue for you.

I get following message, which probably is result of the same cause as previously posted in the threads.

"Could Not Connect To http://online.wsj.com/xml/rss/3_7014.xml. You Should Verify The Source Address Is Valid And That Your Hosting Provider Has Configured Their Proxy Server Settings Correctly."

When viewing as normal user following message is displayed.

"News Feed Is Not Available At This Time. Error message:Request for the permission of type 'System.Net.WebPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a61934e089' failed."

I don't see host -> ... Advanced option in my hosting control panel though.  I have shared windows server hosting plan.

Any pointer would be appreciated. ;)  Thanks.
