The module is having some difficulty getting through the initial reviews.

- It failed first on some packaging issues. In the past, I've always released the module as an installable PA, and in order to install the source, you would have to install the PA first, then just unzip the source into the Repository folder. That's really not the proper way to package the module, so I had to rework my packaging process. The result is that now you can simply install the source version ( still in DNN 3.X only ) and end up with a working module and all the source code ( although it took me 3 tries to get it right :(  )

- second, it failed the initial localization tests. There were a small number of controls and some literal text that wasn't localized.  Those issues have been fixed and the module has once again been re-submitted to the tracker.

While it can certainly be viewed as a pain in the a%$  :)  the process is doing it's job and the result will be modules of higher quality and less issues when finally released.

I'm right there with all of you .. I wish the module could be released today ... but hopefully now that the initial issues are addressed, the module can make it through the remainder of the process without an further delays.

Thanks for the update Steve.  Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we'll get to see the final product, which I am sure will be great.

You mentioned a few weeks back that a report would be viewable by the community so that we could see where in the process the modules where.  Is that still the plan?  I think this would be a great help, in both letting people know where in the process there module is and educating them on the process.

Do you use Oracle?  Then try GoldFish.Net

Get it from CNET Download.com!

yes, the plan was and still is to make the tracker publicly visible. When the tracker was initially written, it was intended as an internal tool only. Soon after beginning to use it however, it was clear that the value of making it publicly visible was tremendous. In order to do that though, a number of code changes had to be made to make the public views meaningful without exposing the data to change by unauthorized visitors ( since it was initially an internal tool, there was very little security built into the first release )

There was a small change made to the tracker just this past weekend, and I believe that was the last outstanding issue remaining prior to the public unveiling :)  so, as soon as the latest build of the tracker is verified/tested there should be an announcement made. (fingers crossed)

As of yeterday, the Repository module passed all the package verification tests and has entered the functional (QA) testing phase. NOTEL In the tracker history below, the entries that say PROJECT EDITED, indicate that the project lead uploaded a new package. As I mentioned in a previous post, I had some difficulty getting though the package verification phase, it took me 3 times to get it right !  :(
