Looking through the Repository Project information, a music library is listed as one of the uses.

Instead of just having an option to download, it seems like there should be an easy way to play the music. What I would like to do is the following:
Use the Repository Module with the filelist template. Modify the filelist template to also include ratings, comments, downloadcount, and an option to play the song (using the DNN media module, or any media module).

Is this possible?

You can accomplish this using a Flash based mp3 player (such as http://flash-mp3-player.net/ ) and embedding it into a custom repository template.  Then, in your custom template, you need to insert the proper repository tokens to call up the appropriate mp3 files, eg

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="[TEMPLATEIMAGEFOLDER]player_mp3.swf" width="200" height="20">
<param name="movie" value="[TEMPLATEIMAGEFOLDER]player_mp3.swf" />
<param name="FlashVars" value="mp3[FILEURL]" />
</object>

Hi,

I am using the respository as a library for church audio recordings. If this is anything like what you want please let me know and I can give you the template. Or you can just view source and steal the Javscript code :) It doesn't need a Flash player or anything like that.

Hope that helps...

Simon.

PS. I have the files hosted on a separate FTP server for ease of upload.

Hi Simon,

Thanks God I found you, this is something I have been looking for.  I’m working on a web site for my choir also.  I want to upload the audio and pdf file for members to listen and get familiar with the song before we practice.  If you could, please walk me through setting this up, I’m pretty new with DNN.  You help is greatly appreciate.

Thanks

John

Simon,

Any chance of getting the template?  I'm pretty new to DNN, but I'm doing a church site too and your solution is great.  Thanks.

Jerry
