File size shouldn't make a lick of difference once you get it uploaded. If you look at http://www.gmss.org/N2003Goodies/USPitsMods/tabid/96/Default.aspx you'll see that I've got a couple of files there that are > 20MB with no download problems. I'm admittedly stumped at the moment as to what's causing the error for you but it's a general DNN problem rather that DRM specific.

I'm running into a similar issue.  I am storing media files in the repository module, and it appears that the module is only allowing a download to last approximately 90 seconds before prematurely ending.  For example, I start a download of a 13mb file, it downloads for 90 seconds, and then acts as though it is finished.  When I look at the downloaded file's properties, it only has downloaded around 2.8 mb.  Is there a timeout set for the download aspx file?

I've also noticed that the download speed is slower than it is in the Documents module.  For example, when downloading the same file as above from the Documents module on my internal network, the download is almost immediate, approx 7mb/s transfer.  When I download the same file from the Repository module, it runs 90 seconds, at approx 50 kb/s transfer.  Is there also a download/bandwidth limit that is causing it to transfer at a slower rate?

This is the only real issue I've found with this module. I want to thank you for all the work you've put into it, it is an extremely flexible tool, and I appreciate your hard work.

Thanks again!

Mike,

I ran into a similar issue when I insalled the repository last month.  Under certain conditions, the RM downloads binary files as ascii files and will corrupt them. To verify this, when you download the file with FireFox, the download dialog will indicate that the file type is HTM, this is the clue that the server is sending you and ascii file rather than a binary file (IE hides this information). For example when you download from your site the dialog says:

you have chosen to open
gn1970_carset.zip
which is an: HTM file
What should Firefox do with this file:....

I'm not sure what causes this and did not get a solution here either (see post). I finally went with a different solution.  I'm sure that someday this will be fixed, but for now you'll need to use a different module.

Take care,

GregC

If you upload the same large file using the Admin->File Manager or Host->File Manager, do you see the same problem if they then try to download it via the built-in File Manager module?

The reason I ask is that the Repository module is using the exact same code as the core file manager  to download files to the browser. I would expect that you would see the same behavior.

Can you tell me what your 'different solution' was. I have a client who is using the Repository for uploading and downloading music file ( 100's of megs each ) without any problems.

The only time I've run into a file being downloaded as ASCII is when I haven't set up the MIME type on my server (IE: .exe files) but a simple rename of the file fixed it (it saved as filename.exe.htm). I do have my suspicions on why Firefox originally calls them .htm files but I need to investigate further but it shouldn't affect how things are downloaded.

As to osufan's original question.... what version of DNN are you running?
