Changes have been made in the core user membership code since the last release of the Repository which caused this problem. In fact, the next release ( scheduled for Feb ) will give you some options in how the Author name field is displayed, locked, editable, which value to use ( DisplayName, Profile full name, user entered, etc. ) so hopefully that will address all the issues surrounding the AuthorName field. sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks for this answer, I had the same problem (but that's strange, it is working with DNN 4.3.7, and the problem appear with 4.4.0).

Anyway, I have seen another issue: once a file is uploaded, the "author" is populated. But if I edit the file with another account, the author is not modified. Is it normal ???

(that's a GREAT IDEA to have the author field editable in the next release. Just perfect. At the same time, it would be great to disable the display of 'email field' if the email is not set as visible).
