Maybe it would be secure enough, but that is not the point. It is not that we don't want to, but our time and resources are definitely limited.

Currently table joins are not a primary goal on the UDT road map.  If somebody is working on these features, for example as new data types and their developers are going to offer their code, we might be able to integrate them.

I'll take that as a call for volunteers. :)

If anyone who has already figured out a way to add foreign key checking wants to donate their code, I'll be glad to add in the security features.

Hi Guys,

I am investigating whether DNN can be used as the basis of a multi-tenanted, business application in which each tenant (company) can create/modify their own user defined database tables and fields.  From an initial look, it seems like DNN may be able to support multi-tenancy.  I am now investigating the UDT to see to what extent it can support user defined databases.

Since a database is a collection of joined tables, a 'join' facility is probably required in my application, supporting things like 'parent/child' relationships.  Perhaps the 'User Defined Table' project could be extended to a 'User Defined Database' project?

Over the next few days, I do intend to draw up a specification for the 'User Defined Database' facilities that I need.  I will be happy to share the specification with you when it is finished, hopefully, in a week from now.

Regards

Hi, everybody.

I saw this post today and I think joined table is useful as described, and it can extend the UDT module for more and more usage.

I'm making my own UDT module too, and now what I did is allow user to add attach for each row, UDT's download control cannot fit me, because it's just refer a file on UDT's design mode. I extend a new table to store each row's attachments, user who have right can upload one or more. If you want it to be like a SharePoint, I think attachments management will be important.

Also I want to add an address book module to DNN, also can be used by UDT, somebody want to commucate with the own portal users can easily choose the user he want, if allowed.

UDT's project progress seems slow,  I really want know the plan about it, Can I get it? I think most of us want to know.

It's a great module anyway.
