I just upgraded to UDT 3.4 and the sorting issue is still not fixed.  If I make a UDT and have a list of names for instance, it sorts these names fine.  If I make these names each be a link to the individual's home page, it puts them at the top of the sort list (I'm assuming it is making them be at the top due to the <a tag).

Is this a known issue?

It sorts always against the whole content, including html. I guess you are entering the links as html inside text or you are using rich text. This will not work.

Create instead two invisible columns (e.g. here from type text), one for the link , the second for the caption. Add a calculated column, and use an expression like

'<!--' + [caption] + '--><a href='  + [link]  + '>' +  [caption] + '</a>'

I would have been happy if the sorting was actually against the html of of the URL but that doesn't  seem to be the case. The URLs whould have sortered in in the same order as the names in this case.  I will try yhe usggestion of putting a HTML comment in front of the link
