thinking through it I actually was entering into the xml generator to have it display only certain information on a page.  I wanted to pull Attorney name (that would link to the profile page which is another column AttorneyProfiles), Tel # , and email address.  The email address was giving me the error that the thread is based on.  I used the information provided in this thread to make the email address work.

I actually got this working.  I was making it much too complex.  I did not realize that enabling the abbreviated url would display the page name and eliminate my need to name the link.  I have created another problem for myself with this.  For a number of reasons I have this being viewed through an iframe is there a way to make it open in  a new window?

IFrame or new window?

IFrame is manageable through XSL and Javascript, however this affords some more skills than just generating the XSL with the generator. Links won't work, that would indroduce a security issue.

I want to open it either in the page the iframe sets on or in a new window.  I prefer to open in the page the iframe is on but will take what I can get.  If I add some code to the page being generated would that work?  I do not have very much experience with XSL but i think if you could point me in the right direction I could make it work.

Stephan--Maybe this will describe what I need better than I am.

I found a post in the iframes forum with the answer to my iframes/udt question.  I tried to ask the user (msmith_lv) that posted the question  how they acheive the result and was told that iframe was not the proper forum.  I do not have any way to contact the user to ask so I have attached their answer  below.  My page has a udt that shows in an iframe.  Each record contains a link to another page on the site.  I need to be able to click the link and have it open in the window (not the iframe) that the iframe is on or at worst in a new window.  This user was able to get his url to open in a new window.   Can someone help me with the code necessary to do this in XSL?  Thanks

I'm getting up to speed on DNN but haven't used iFrame before, so sorry if this is a dumb question.

Records in my UDT each contain a link to an external URL (each unique). From UDT search results, I want the user to be able to use the link to display the external page. No problem opening the linked URL in a new window, but I want to show it in an iFrame on the same page as the UDT module, and I don't want to re-load the page because then I will lose the search results. I understand passing query strings, but how do I target the iFrame for displaying the URL? And will I need a Javascript function to open the URL in the iFrame, or does the module do that automatically?

Thanks very much for the help.

-Michael
