I changed the defaultProvider to BroadcastPollingCachingProvider and I no longer get the error. What implications does changing this setting have?

Many thanks
Richard.

Could anyone tell the implications of doing this? More memory usage?

Thanks
Richard.

The implications are more memory usage, but w/ asp.net garbage collection this shouldn't be an issue.  The only reason I would be concerned is if you were using webfarms.  Personally, I see no need to use filebased caching (mainly because it is slower) unless you are using webfarms.
