From what I understand, the new version could be released as-is, save for the upgrade script. (See the "Do not promote 4.4" thread)

Is this an option? I'd like to get an install-only copy. I don't have an existing forum, but I need one soon.

Not harping on the developers, just curious.

Let me jump in and say that Chris et. al are doing a very good job and staying on top of this module (as opposed to some other core modules).  And I'm glad that a good bit of effort is going into QUALITY ASSURANCE.  There are a lot of modules (core and retail) that simply have HORRIBLE quality.  As DNN matures, and becomes the framework for more and more production-critical sites, it will be essential to maintain the highest levels of quality.

That being said, hurry up y'all!

Good news I think???  Just got this from the DNNForums Posted by Chris Paterra:

I installed 04.04.02 on this site because I believe I am finished. I did a dnn.com test upgrade, all seemed well. I upgraded here and all seems well. Keep an eye out and post if you see an issue (something changed, bug, etc.). I will post the build to everyone later tonight, I'm exhausted now.

Please let me know if you see problems here. Thanks.

Does this mean we will get the new forum module soon????

Sounds like it might. I wish I would have known they were putting into a formal QA process. QA is what I do to bring home the bacon, I would have been more than happy to help.
