Richard--

Thank you for giving it a try on your test system. My test system is the same as yours (DNN 4.08.00 Forums 4.4.3), and I am having the same problem on the test as well as the live Forum I have. A question for you...did you get a User Deleted Post email or the Moderator Deleted Post email? My 'Moderator' gets a message saying there was a post deleted, but the User who posted the thread gets only the blank email. If you have the same email address for the User and the Moderator, then you should have gotten 2 emails. My problem is one comes through fine (the one to the Moderator), and the other has no subject or content. Thanks.

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

I didn't have moderation on that forum.

I've retried it with moderation and I say that I get different results to you.  I get the email to the moderator and *NOTHING AT ALL* to the user.  Not even a blank email.

Just to be sure.  Here is what I did:

  • Logon as low user
  • Post to forum
  • Logon as admin
  • Approve the post
  • Delete the post

and I saw

  • admin email - there is somthing to moderate
  • user email - your post was approved
  • admin email - a post was deleted

Is that your scenario?  Did you want the moderator to reject the post at approval stage?

Best wishes,

My problem is with Users getting blank emails whenever any of their posts are deleted. I hadn’t thought about the moderation aspect, thanks. With that in mind, I just set up a new unmoderated forum. I had to set it as ‘Private No Moderation with Post Restrictions’ in order to allow non-admin users to be able to post. I tried two different Users with two different Roles and they both got the annoying blank post deleted emails. In all cases the Forum Admin got a perfect email telling her that the posts had been deleted.

Re your scenarios—I got exactly the same results as you did (admin email - there is something to moderate, user email - your post was approved, admin email - a post was deleted), except my Users also got the blank email with no subject and no content. Further, when I had the Forum Admin delete a post that the very same Forum Admin had started, the Forum Admin received one nice email as the Admin and one blank one as the User.

When your Admin deletes a post, do they have a Delete Post text box that allows them to choose the reason for the post being deleted and allegedly pick a template for the email to be sent to the User? No matter what I choose (Post is Duplicate, Against Policy, Spam, etc), nothing ‘sticks’ and the User gets the blank email.

I will try to reproduce it.  But I am at time very bussy, about other urgent work in dnn projects.  Please comment here, if you did not here from me, or other project team members about this issue.  I need some time to try reproduce it.

Thanks

Matthias

Yep - except my Admin gets one nice email and no other email.

Yes I see the drop down, But I only left it on the default.
