I am looking for the option that will alow the users to use a avatar that is hosted on another server by allowing them to use ant http://www.... . Currently the only option i a see is to have the avatar uploaded on to the server.  Is this possiable and if so how?

Personally I do not like a feature as your idea.  On a big Forum calling Avatars from a other domain fires up the bandwidth use, and make big Forums slower performance.  This is happened about DNN have to load then each avatar from other servers.

Oh, I thought it was the opposite as the avatars are retrieved direct from the offsite by the user's browser, and so bypassing the forum server and not using the forum's bandwidth.  The only downsides of offsite avatars are the possible delay in retrieving the image from the offsite server (thus delaying the fuill page rendering) and the potential lack of control over the images selected.

I'm gonna have to agree with BarryS on this one. I host my images/files on a different server than my website host because I am limited on the amount of data I can transfer per month without incurring additional charges. By linking to images by the URL of another server rather than as a local file, the user downloads that image directly from the auxilliary server and uses minimal bandwidth from the primary server.

Avatars are small enough that I haven't felt the need to relocate them, but when you're dealing with nearly a million pageviews (or more) per month they can add up.

We have a upload feature as well for the Avatars too.  If we change this to a other server, we can not offer a upload for Avatars in the same feature.  Then we have to create a seperatly ftp upload with the ftp setting to the other server. Personaly I see this not userfriedly.
